Telemedicine
Sometimes, bringing kids to the doctor’s office can be a trying experience, and our team at Endocrine Kids knows this. That is why we are proud to offer our new telemedicine service to a variety of patients.
When it is time for the appointment, you and your child can videoconference with your provider.
What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine refers to when a health care provider and patient interact for medical care using telecommunication. They most often meet via two-way voice and video communication over the internet. This service began with patients who did not have local access to healthcare and needed an easier way to communicate with their doctor. Telemedicine offered a way for patients to have their health issues addressed regardless of where they lived or the circumstances that prevented them from getting medical care.
Now, telemedicine simply involves logging in to a web-based application and having a video chat with Dr. Bishop. Perhaps your child just needs a quick checkup; a telemedicine appointment can save busy parents a lot of time.
Who Can Benefit from Telemedicine Visits?
Anyone can benefit from telemedicine, especially those who live far away from the Endocrine Kids office or those who have extenuating circumstances that prevent from them traveling to appointments. This service, with insurance approval, will be offered alternating with in-office visits.
If a parent has a special-needs child and getting them to the doctor takes quite a bit of effort, this offering can fulfill a true need. For homebound patients or those who have anxiety issues, telemedicine offers the opportunity to have a face-to-face visit with their doctor or nurse practitioner with no travel involved.
